Do you ever find yourself wondering how your used Pepsi cans, can really help the environment? Well today, you’re going to learn exactly how. So, strap in and let’s get started!
When we recycle our aluminum cans, they go through a specific process to make sure they’re clean and broken up, before they get melted down. Once they’re melted down, they’re created into metal sheets to be used for new materials. Some examples of new materials would be, metal furniture parts, kitchen supplies, car parts, wire, and even newer cans! Aluminum is special because it can be recycled 1,000 times and still maintain is original make up. Recycling your old cans is beneficial to our planet because they can be recycled and reused into hundreds of different materials, rather than going into the landfill and being wasted. Aluminum cans can also be harmful to the planet because their chemical makeup makes it impossible for them to naturally decompose. Some good things to think about next time you crack open a cold Pepsi!
Aside from what fun things our recyclables can make, they also help keep our planet clean. Recycling decreases pollution within our planet because you’re keeping it out of factories and/or plants that break them down and release the harmful chemicals into the air. Recycling also helps pollution by keeping a large volume of items out of our landfills, leaving less water and soil contamination (Gross, right?).
Other than helping the earth itself, it also helps the people we share the earth with by helping us save money and create jobs at the same time! It saves us money because we can preserve material needed to break down the items and it creates jobs because of the increase in recycling facilities over the years. As long as the need for recycling keeps increasing, so will our need for new facilities and employees!
